Living Room Design Ideas 2020

There's nothing like designing a well-designed living room where you can enjoy family time and entertain your loved ones. This primary spot sets the tone for the rest of your home's furnishings. It's also one of the best places to demonstrate your design aesthetic by experimenting with color palettes, layers of textures and patterns, and a variety of furniture. It should be comfortable, inviting and full of style. If you're a design enthusiast, this is an ideal place to test your favorite trends, whether you opt for maximumist art or opt for metallic wall paints.

An elegant, neutral living room in Chicago's historic Palmolive building offers a clever mix of antiques and vintage finds that create a sense of balance.

The 1920s Palm Beach house, owned by art consultant Heidi McWilliams, is the perfect setting for presenting her stunning collection. The living room is furnished with wine red armchairs (right) and a hexagonal table by Rose Tarlow Melrose House and a neutral rug by Patterson Flynn Martin. A mirrored wall sculpture by Anish Kapoor accentuates the 16th century Italian limestone coat and the coffered ceiling, which is original, gives the space character.

Kara Mann's living room in Chicago is a lesson in minimalist design. A few white chairs complement the marigold carpet of Miyabi Casa. The floors are large-scale limestone tiles.
